Crewders Doughnuts, Swansea

Fancy Crewders doughnuts

If you’re a fan of a fancy doughnut – you know, the kind with all the delicious bells and whistles, then you need to get yourself down to Crewders in Brynmill because the doughnuts there are next level. There’s nothing else in Swansea like them.

Freshly baked onsite, by the friendliest team (I think it’s one family who owns and runs the place, from what I could gather when I got chatting), they seem to do different themed daily doughnuts as well as tried and tested customer favourites – handmade and freshly baked daily onsite.

For example, on St David’s Day, Crewders baked some amazing Welsh-themed doughnuts – such as a bara birth doughnut with a honey-infused tea, currant and apple topping.

I drive past there quite a few times a week, and it’s always bustling. I visited around three in the afternoon to try out the doughnuts and there was a good selection, but you could tell they had sold out of a lot of them, so go early if there is a flavour you particularly want. They have a really good Facebook page which is updated daily with what doughnuts are in the cabinet that day.

What are the cons?

If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, Crewders, at this point isn’t the place for you.

I asked if they had any vegan doughnuts as I currently am not able to eat dairy – they also don’t have any gluten-free options – and they told me that they don’t as they haven’t come up with a good enough recipe yet, and its difficult to get right, which seems fair enough, but was pretty rubbish for me who couldn’t try the doughnuts I bought.

How much are the Crewders doughnuts?

Listen, they’re not cheap – but I think they’re well worth the money.

  • 1 x ring doughnut – £3.00
  • 1 x filled doughnut – £3.50
  • 4 x ring doughnuts – £10
  • 4 x mixed doughnuts – £11
  • 4 x filled doughnuts – £12

I’ve bought some pretty crappy cakes in other cafes for more than that, so it seems like a fair price to me for the quality.

Where is Crewders doughnuts and coffee?

You’ll find Crewders at 114 Marlborough Road, Brynmill, Swansea, SA20DY. Parking is a bit of a pain – so don’t expect to be able to sit your car right outside for easy access (though to be fair, where is easy to park in Brynmill?), so expect to need to hunt down a spot if you’re driving.

It’s very walkable from Brynmill park, so a great picnic treat if you’re spending some time there.
