Founders and Co, Swansea

Founders and co swansea

Founders and Co is one of my favourite spaces in Swansea and is certainly the best one in the city centre. Not only is the food great… really great, but it’s also a community space, which welcomes freelancers/homeworkers, children, students – all sorts. It’s vibrant, and welcoming and reminds me of the kind of venue you’d usually find in London – it’s a great asset to Swansea.

I’ve been to a children’s playgroup there, while my partner has got his hair cut at the barbers. They have craft markets, a vintage store, painting nights, quizzes – all sorts. They also hire a room out for private events and meet-ups.

I particularly want to shout out the staff – they are brilliant – especially who I think is the manager. Every time I’ve been there, he’s come over to ensure we’re OK. He’s always looking for suggestions on how they can improve.

Founders and Co. menu

What’s great about Founders and Co is that multiple businesses have their own areas in the large building, cooking different cuisines or selling vintage clothes etc – all genuinely great. The businesses do rotate, so you may find that a business you love just disappears one day. I’m still mourning over the poutine place that disappeared one day. I’d go there every time I was in town because I can not resist gravy on chips – but the replacement – a Mexican place may be even better. The Birra tacos are one of my favourite things to eat – full stop.

You order off your phone, so it’s perfect to order bits and pieces from the different booths, which are then delivered to your table. Prices are reasonable, but if you go for lunch on a weekday, booths have special offers which are brilliant value. For example, the other day I got a full pizza from Pizza Boys for £7.

Current vendors include:

Really good coffee. I’ve never had a bad cup. Though it’s always so busy, so I find it can take a while to get your drink – but it’s worth it. They also have a deal, which is good for those working out of Founders that for… around a tenner (when I find out the proper figure, I’ll update) you can have as much coffee as you can drink that day.

Arguably the best pizza in Swansea, Pizza Boys is the newest vendor to come to Founders and Co.

  • Tukka Tuk

Delicious Indian street food. I always get the chips covered in chicken tikka goodness.

I have a Mexican friend who says Cwtchitas is about the most authentic Mexican food you’re going to get in Wales, nevermind just Swansea. It’s bloody lush – especially the Birra Tacos which I’ll never not order if I go into Founders and Co.

A great burger. What more can you say?

Founders and Co. events

Founders and Co prides itself on being a community space that holds an ever-changing array of things to do. From live music, children’s discos, craft fayres, art and craft classes, yoga etc. There’s always something going on. The best place to keep an eye on what’s coming up is the Founders and Co. Instagram account.

It also has ‘The Potting Shed’ which is a small room you can hire here.

Founders and Co Bottomless Brunch

The Founders and Co Bottomless Brunch is available every day of the week, and lasts 90 minutes between 12pm – 3pm – but an extra half an hour is added to your session when you get your last drink so you can take your time.

You pick a main meal and then as many drinks as you can drink in that 90 minutes. You can see the full Founders and Co Bottomless Brunch menu here, but the drinks include prosecco, cocktails, beer, mocktails and soft drinks.

It’s £31.95 per person, or £24.95 if you’re going booze-free.

Founders and Co Paint Along Lady

Maybe the most popular event held at Founders and Co is the Paint Along Lady. I went on it last year, and am desperate to go back now I’m not pregnant, but the events sell out so fast, you need to be quick – very quick.

A lovely artist runs it called Claire Timbrell – and no matter how bad you are at painting, I guarantee you come away with something you can be proud of. You just need to turn up, get yourself something to eat and drink, and everything you need to get painting is waiting for you.

It’s a great night out – recommend it.

Founders and Co. reviews

So you know I think it’s amazing, but what do others think?

Fantastic little gem in the heart of Swansea.
Cozy seating area with a very relaxed atmosphere.
You order via the qr/nfc tag from the multiple vendors and everything is delivered to the table.
We ordered from multiple vendors and the food came in no particular order making it like a tasting menu of everything you like.
Will definitely be returning.

First time visiting and was very surprised!
Was fairly busy for a Tuesday afternoon. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed.
The menu from different vendors was varied and plentiful. Could easily have ordered loads to try!
On arrival food was lovely and good portions.
Not silly prices either. Would definitely recommend a visit.

What an amazing team and amazing venue! We held a team night at the Potting Shed and it was the perfect space for us all to catch up. We grabbed some delicious food beforehand and then had drinks and a tarot reading session in the Potting Shed. We’ll return again and again!

Are you a coffee connoisseur? Little Man Coffee is pretty good – but if you’re in Mumbles, you should give Microlot Coffee a shot.
