GG’s Gelato

GGs Gelato

This might be fighting talk here – but I think there are three front runners for the best ice cream in Swansea – Verdi’s, Joe’s and GG’s Gelato. I can’t decide which is the best between the three to be honest – it depends on my mood, but GG’s Gelato stands out for its fun flavours and big chunks of chocolate/fruit/fillings etc in the gelato. My pictures aren’t doing it justice – check out their Instagram to see how mouth-wateringly good they are.

That said, I always get the same – the Fererro and Bueno combo! That said, while writing this review, I’ve discovered they do a thing called the ‘Gower Pig’ which is a thing of beauty – so feel like I need to be a bit more adventurous.

It’s not just delicious ice cream they have either, but they have waffles, cakes, milkshakes etc. And at Christmas, they do an ice-cream Yule Log, which comes in different flavours, which I fully intend on getting this year (again, because I’m boring – probably Fererro flavoured).

Where is GGs Gelato?

You can buy GGs ice cream in every other shop in Swansea, but pre-packaged. But just like with Joe’s ice cream, which is also a gelato – it just isn’t as good. So if you want it at its best, you need to go to the main parlour in beautiful Penclawdd.

It’s connected to the Estuary restaurant, which is one of my favourites in Swansea. It has brilliant outdoor and indoor seating. Vibes wise – it’s a fun, beautifully decorated venue.

Stick in 1-2 Belle Vue, Penclawdd, Swansea SA4 3YE into your sat nav, and park up in the free car park (yes – a rare FREE car park in Swansea) that always has a ton of space.

It’s open seven days a week, from 10am – 7pm, and to 8pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Penclawdd is underrated

One of my favourite trips out with my kids is to Penclawdd. There are some brilliant places to eat, including The Esturary, Selwyn’s for fresh seafood and Cwtch Cafe for the best Welsh breakfast in Swansea.

The council have just done up the park opposite the ice cream parlour, and in my opinion, it’s one of the top five parks in Swansea. We then get a GG’s Gelato and then scoot up and down the estuary looking for wild ponies.

GG’s Gelato Reviews

So you know how much I like GG’s Gelato, but what do others think?

Excellent value for money. I paid for a cone of ice-cream with one scoop for £3.20 and the scoop was probably the equivalent of 2 large scoops. This would have been great if I hadn’t have just eaten a full roast dinner. The ice-cream was delicious though, I had the white choc cherry and my girlfriend had the strawberry. There wasn’t any strawberry out on display so my girlfriend asked if they had any and they brought a whole new tray out for her. Great service.

Everything about this little ice cream shop is spot on. The place is clean and bright, airy feeling. The staff are welcoming and helpful. They allowed us to taste the ice cream before we made our choice and they were very reasonably priced too!!!

I am in love. The ice cream is to die for. And prices are so reasonable. I also love the vibe or the place. Reminds me of the cute diners from back in the 80s.so many wonderful flavors. Of ice cream, tasty waffles. Love this place
