Without a doubt, the Oyster Gallery on Newton Road is my favourite shop in Swansea – not just in the Mumbles – the whole City. It’s all the way up the hill in the bit known as ‘the top shops’ – but 100% worth the trek up (or just park up the top).

Oyster Gallery is split across two floors and is jam-packed with beautifully curated items, from art and gifts from local artists, furniture, the biggest selection of Jelly Cats, French Chic paint, candles, cards, jewellery, and more.

I really appreciate how beautifully set out the Gallery is, and it is particularly stunning at Christmas, where the top floor tends to be set up with Christmas decorations and lights – it’s so lush, it’s worth a visit, just to feel all Christmassy.

Does the Oyster Gallery, Mumbles ever have a sale?

The Oyster Gallery is an independent boutique, so with that you’ll find prices will be a little more expensive than if you were to buy similar online – THOUGH – I’m a massive believer in supporting local, small businesses. Beautiful villages like the Mumbles, wouldn’t be beautiful and interesting if they were just filled with the usual high street stuff.

But of course, that can price some people out, so a good opportunity to pick up some items from Oyster Gallery is to visit when it has a sale, or when they have a discount special, which seems to happen a couple of times a year. I swear there was one during Black Friday last year, for example.

Towards the back of the shop, you tend to find the sale items at the bottom of the stairs, and in the room at the top of the stairs – though reduced items can be found dotted around the store.

Oyster Gallery, Mumbles tends to have a sale a couple of times during the year, but obviously, the really big one just after Christmas, during the New Year.

You can often find some really decent discounts too – including on Jelly Cat, which are hardly ever reduced in other shops.

Every now and then, Oyster Gallery runs discount weeks or weekends, where, for example, there will be 20% off everything in the shop. They tend to advertise these on their Facebook page, so it’s worth following to make sure you know when the best time is to bag a bargain.

A shop that never fails to disappoint! I love browsing through their extensive range of items – ranging from jewellery, paintings, decorative items, ceramics, faux flowers, cards and much more.
A beautiful, tasteful shop that is well worth a visit if you are ever in the area.

A must visit shop when in Mumbles. Wonderful treasure trove full of gifts, homewear and stationery. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
